• AC/DC Adapters

  AC adapter (Japanese AC アプー) (AC/DC Adapter), AC means alternating current, and Ac Charger is an AC power source. Many electrical appliances require the use of AC adapters. The term AC adapter is simply used in commercial products, which essentially refers to an AC power supply. In the industrial field, we refer to it as a switching power supply, but there is a slight difference in appearance.

  1. Stress test: Each lead terminal of the product can withstand an axial tensile force of 2 kilograms for 60 seconds without any looseness, blockage, or other damage.

  2. Drop test: The product has a self height of 90CM, with one drop in each X-Y-Z direction. After falling onto a loose wooden board with a thickness of 1 CM, there are no abnormalities. The insulation resistance test is conducted, with a minimum of 10M ohms. Refer to GB/T 4857.

  3. Wire sway test: The wire weighs 200 grams and swings left and right at an angle of 120 degrees. After 300 rounds, it must still be conductive. Refer to UL-817/JISC8306.

  What issues should be noted when purchasing an AC adapter?

  1. It is important to be clear about the range of input voltage for your power adapter, preferably using the world standard AC100-240V voltage input, in order to prevent your computer from being unusable when traveling abroad or smoking when connecting to AC220V when returning to China.

  2. Be sure to understand the output voltage and current of your power adapter!

  It is best to be completely consistent with the nominal voltage and current of your power supply. As for the brand, there is not much difference in quality between different brands, because many brands of power supplies may come from the same power supply manufacturer and are OEM produced.

  Although the output voltage and current of the power supply have a small range of variation, the protection points for overcurrent and overvoltage are precisely tested and set by the manufacturer. Different computers have different load resistance values. Once certain circuit faults occur in the computer, the power adapter can play a protective role. If a power adapter with non nominal voltage and current is selected, its overvoltage and overcurrent protection point settings may not be the same, which may not protect the computer.

  3. Be clear about the aperture size of the DC output line of your power adapter, as well as the positive and negative differences inside and outside. Don't buy it and only realize that it can't be plugged in.

  Generally speaking, the commonly used low-voltage AC switching power adapter rectifies 220VAC electricity directly into an AC voltage of around 300V after passing through an EMI filter. The circuit controls the switching tube for high-speed conduction and cutoff, and then converts it into high-frequency AC electricity to supply to the transformer for voltage transformation. This generates one or more sets of voltage required, which is then rectified into the required voltage of AC electricity.
